News and Events

We have just built our first Candu E-Z and commenced on the 1st May 2008. We found the plans comprehensive and easy to follow and seeing this is the first time we have ever built a wooden boat, needed all the help we can get.

Hopefully, by sharing our experiences, it will inspire others to take on this fun project.

Living on the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria, it is an ideal location to for the mini tug, the first of its’ kind in the area. As members of the East Gippsland division of the Wooden Boat Association, the project has  created considerable local interest.

The finished boat was launched on 2nd June, 2009 and we have certainly proved the designer’s claim “ It is the most fun you can have without being arrested”

Welcome

This is a Candu E-Z! This little beauty's name is "Toot N Tug". She was built by Roger Balling of Santa Ana, California. This is the boat that started it all! This has the classic salty look of a full-sized tugboat. This is a family boat, 4.3 metres in length, that can carry 3-5 people and is capable of sleeping 2 aboard. overnight!

Berkley Engineering
Tug Boat Plans

Berkeley Eastman is well-known for the mini tugboat  and houseboat plans he designed and built. The various models are displayed on the web site www.berkeley-engineering.com and plans may be purchased from Berkeley Engineering USA.

The original design features a 10 HP electric motor which cruises at about 5 MPH. It is clean and safe, no fumes, no noise, no fuel, no vibration! It is fully trailerable.
